Floor Care Tips
After your flooring is installed, simple steps can be taken to maintain its beautiful appearance.
Carpet Floor Care
- Dirt collecting carpet mats should be placed in frequently used entrances and cleaned weekly.
- Place runners in high-traffic areas and rearrange furniture periodically to reduce wear and dirt.
- Vacuum your carpet at least once or twice week, depending on the amount of traffic.
- As soon as you discover a spill, remove as much of it as possible. Blot area; do not rub into the carpet.
Hardwood Floor Care
- Rugs should be used to cover high-traffic areas.
- Install floor protectors on furniture legs to prevent scratches.
- Maintain proper humidity levels within your home.
- Move rugs periodically if area is exposed to regular sunlight to avoid discoloring of the floor underneath.
- Regularly clean hardwood floor with alcohol-based hardwood flooring cleaners.
- Never mop hardwood floor. Standing water can damage the wood.
Tile Floor Care
- Avoid using any cleaners on your floor that contain harsh abrasives.
- Purchase a good quality dust mop and sweep your tile floors daily. This is especially important in new installations where the grout has not fully cured.
- Make sure the shower stall and tub enclosures have proper ventilation.
